Schedule & approvals
Managers and Admins with the right permissions build the schedule and approve the requests that come in against it. Exactly who can do which of the below is controlled in Settings → Permissions — see Employees & permissions.
Building and publishing
Assign shifts on the weekly grid — a shift stays a draft, invisible to employees, until you publish it. Publishing is what actually makes a week's shifts visible on everyone's Schedule page.
Approving open-shift claims
An unassigned published shift can be claimed directly by any eligible employee — Shifti checks their position, location, and the rest of their schedule automatically before letting the claim go through.
Approving shift swaps
A swap between two assigned employees is a separate request that needs a decision — whoever holds shift-swap approval permission sees it come in and accepts or declines it.
Approving time off
There's no single fixed approver — a time-off request goes out to everyone who currently holds time-off-approval permission, and the first one to act on it decides it. If you want requests to route to a specific person only, grant the permission to just them in Settings → Permissions.
